At the start of every year predictions are made throughout all different industries. The kitchen design industry is no exception. Below, rather than make predictions, we will look at actual trends that are happening now and being requested by real customers.

Wood Finishes

It will be good news for many that wood finish is making a comeback. In a sea of white kitchens, the natural wood look is seeping back into modern kitchen design. Some homeowners are even choosing to mix and match wood finishes in the same space, much in the same way that complementary cabinet colors are often used in one room.

Pantries

Pantries are key for anyone who really enjoys home organization and/or meal planning. Pantries provide one centralized, cool, dry space to store food which can help meal prep time when you don’t have to go poking through various cupboards to find ingredients. It can also cut down on the amount of cabinets needed allowing more space to be left open, making a kitchen feel larger.

Mudrooms

Mudrooms, utility rooms, and laundry rooms used to be spaces that were hidden away in the back of homes never to be seen by visiting guests. They were homes’ dirty little secrets where anything from muddy boots to cleaning supplies would be stored. Now however, these places can be finished to such a high standard that any homeowner would be proud to show them off. Installing built-in cabinets that are both beautiful and provide storage make these spaces stylish and functional.

Open Shelving

Open shelving can be both practical and design-forward. This is an area to show off your most beautiful or most special dishware. Maybe you’ve inherited your grandmother’s tea set or collected beautiful dishes from around the world. On the practical side, this can be where you store your most often used dishes for quick easy access.
