Kitchens are called the heart of the home for a reason. They are where we cook nourishing meals for our families, share important conversations with our friends, work and complete homework, and even entertain. For this reason, it is important that your kitchen is kept clean and organized so that you can find the right tools for the right occasion no matter what that is.

Storage

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again. No client has ever gone to one of our kitchen designers complaining of too much storage in their kitchen. It is always our advice to max out on all the storage you can fit. Speak with a designer about how you can best utilize under-used and forgotten spaces in your design for additional storage.

Custom Storage

Storage doesn’t just mean empty drawers and cabinets. At Fairview Millwork and Kitchens, you can work with a designer to choose cabinets, drawers, and pullouts for custom storage. These can include everything from specific bakeware, dinnerware, and cookware storage to K-cup storage and concealed step stools.

Conceal Your Trash

No one wants to stare at (or smell) stinky trash while they eat. Conceal your trash and recycling instead with garbage can pull-outs. These not only hide your unsightly trash from your guests and family but also move the trash closer to the food prep space for easy cleanup. You can even keep all of your recycling separated as you throw so there is no additional sorting on trash day.

Open Shelving

Cabinets aren’t the only way to keep your kitchen items organized. Use open shelving to break up long stretches of upper cabinets. These work especially well if you have some pretty dishes or items that you’d like to show off. Don’t go open shelf crazy however, those items will need to be kept neat and dust-free.
